Complex litigation involves lawsuits which require unusual management by the attorneys and the judge where the case is pending. Our attorneys have the requisite experience to manage complex litigation while continuing to serve their clients as capable advisors and able advocates. Litigation involving many parties, especially if pending in many different jurisdictions, requires effective management. Complex litigation involves large numbers of witnesses and documents, extensive discovery and attorneys skilled at pre-trial procedures. Litigation involving difficult and novel questions of law also qualifies as complex.

By its nature, litigation in which claims are made by or against a class tends to be complex and these cases are commonly known as class actions. Class actions have their own set of procedural requirements and before litigation can proceed on behalf of, or against, a class, the judge must certify the case as a class action. Many of our attorneys have successfully represented clients seeking either to certify or deny certification as a class action. Certification, and how its membership is defined, can have a significant effect on the outcome of any class action.
