Amy L. Demlow, a member of Critchfield, Critchfield & Johnston, Ltd., received the prestigious Athena Leadership Award for Medina County at a dinner reception on October 1, 2014. The award, sponsored locally by the Medina County Women’s Journal, is presented to a woman who excels in professional excellence, community service and actively assisting women in their attainment of professional excellence and leadership status.

Demlow, who has been at CCJ since 1996 and serves on the firm’s Board of Directors, was nominated by her law partner, Ralph Streza, and was selected from 12 nominees.

“Receiving the Athena award is truly an honor,” Amy Demlow stated. “My parents were great role models in giving back to community organizations, and I am very lucky to be at a firm that shares my values of serving others and taking on leadership roles. This award has energized me as I continue to support and develop the talented women in our community.”

Robert C. Gorman, Managing Member at CCJ, said “Amy has provided a great example to young women and men in our firm for many years with her commitment to excellence and her passion for her community and family. Thanks to her and to those who have gone before her, we are proud to have women and men who can set outstanding examples for leadership in our communities.”

CCJ attorney Rebecca Smith was also honored as a nominee for the Athena Young Professional Award at the same dinner. The Young Professional Award recognizes emerging leaders who are 30 to 45 years old and is presented annually to a professional female leader who has demonstrated significant achievements in business, community service and the professional advancement of women.

Previously, CCJ has made its mark on the Athena Awards in Wooster. Peggy Schmitz is a past winner of the Athena Leadership Award, and Tricia Pycraft is a past winner of the Athena Young Professional Award.
