John R. Waltman

Overview

John Waltman is an esteemed Holmes County lawyer, having lived and worked in Millersburg and surrounding communities for the majority of his 50-year legal career. John has been a member of the firm for nearly all of those 50 years, where he developed a thriving practice in general estate planning and probate work, as well as real estate and corporate law. 

John is very committed to the betterment of Holmes County and its citizens, particularly when it comes to encouraging further education. He is one of the founding trustees of The Holmes County Education Foundation (HCEF), first formed in 1989, and currently sits as Chairman of the Board while also serving as the Foundation’s legal counsel. Since 1991, over $9 million has been granted for the betterment of Holmes County youth and adults through HCEF awards of college scholarships, professional development grants, Amish Vocational Training grants, Senior Series grants, and assistance to the Holmes County College Access Program. 

Professionally, John is notable as a Fellow of the Ohio State Bar Foundation, and as a member of the American, Ohio State, and Holmes County Bar Associations. He has also earned an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell.

Outside the office

John lives in Millersburg with his wife Ruth, and in his spare free time enjoys indulging a life-long passion for boating.
