Critchfield, Critchfield & Johnston is proud to announce that Managing Member Amy L. Demlow is the 2023 recipient of the Excellence in Medina County Leadership Award.

Presented annually by Leadership Medina County, the Excellence in Medina County Leadership Award recognizes those leaders who

“… make significant and tangible leadership contributions to Medina County through extraordinary vision, innovation, inspiration, and hard work. They demonstrate leadership qualities through career achievements or long-standing participation in community activities with full support of their organization, field, and community. They possess a commitment to remain in Medina County and address the issues that face the county. They value leadership and foster leadership in others. They contribute to improving the quality of life in Medina County.”

In an innovative programming move, Leadership Medina challenged each award recipient of the evening to give a five-word speech following the announcement of his or her award. Given that the Excellence in Leadership award was the premier award of the evening, Demlow was granted a few more than five words. She rose to the challenge with, “Leadership Medina County—the springboard for us (gesturing to include the whole ballroom) to get things done.” In addition to their award trophy, each award recipient was granted the opportunity to present a check to a nonprofit of his or her choice. Demlow selected OutSupport as her check recipient.

Demlow is the Managing Member of Critchfield, Critchfield & Johnston—the first woman in the over 150-year history of the firm to assume the role. In nearly 25 years of practice, she has developed broad capabilities in complex corporate and business transactions and real estate matters. She also counsels owners of closely held businesses on various estate planning matters. Demlow has worked with multiple families and closely held business owners in structuring their family trust company as a solution to business succession and successor trustee issues.

Demlow is deeply involved in the Medina community and currently sits on the boards of Main Street Medina, the Medina County Economic Development Corporation, and Medina Hospital (part of the Cleveland Clinic hospital system). She is a part of the Medina County Estate Planning Council, and formerly served on the boards of United Way of Medina County, the Greater Medina Chamber of Commerce, the Medina City School Foundation, and the Medina City School Technology School Board.

Outside the office and her community commitments, Demlow enjoys traveling internationally with friends, having recently visited Greece, Spain, Barbados, and Croatia. When stateside, she enjoys traveling to new cities and exploring. At home, Demlow is an avid golfer, and spends as much time as possible relaxing by the pool and cooking weekend family dinners.

Demlow is a graduate of the University of Akron School of Law and the University of Akron College of Business, where she earned a B.S. and a Masters in Taxation.
