Critchfield, Critchfield & Johnston, Ltd. serves the legal needs of businesses and individuals in Wooster, Millersburg, Medina, Mount Vernon, Ashland, and surrounding areas in Northeast and North Central Ohio. The firm seeks a paralegal/legal assistant for its Mount Vernon, Ohio, office. This position will have close collaboration with multiple attorneys within the firm. The candidate must have a high regard for attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, a desire to continue learning and growing professionally, and be self-motivated. Experience with NetDocuments or another document management system is preferred but not required.

- 8-hour shift
- Monday to Friday

Key Responsibilities
- Client Communication: Serve as a secondary point of contact for clients, addressing routine questions, scheduling meetings, and gathering necessary documentation.
- Document Preparation: Assist in the preparation and organization of legal documents under the guidance of an attorney or senior paralegal.
- File Management: Maintain and update client files, ensuring all documents are accurately filed, organized, and easily accessible. Ensure compliance with legal confidentiality standards.
- Draft Correspondence: Draft letters, emails, and other communications to clients, courts, and third parties.
- Client Meetings: Assist in coordinating client meetings, including preparing necessary documentation, setting appointments, and attending meetings when required to take notes.
- Follow-up: Track and follow up with clients to ensure timely completion of required documents and responses to legal inquiries.
- Administrative Support: Perform general office duties, including data entry, filing, scheduling, and maintaining the office’s filing system
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with attorneys, paralegals, and other staff to support and ensure seamless service for clients.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Prior experience in an administrative or legal support role is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of document formatting and confidentiality principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with legal management software or document management systems is a plus.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy is critical.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
