Overview
Sangwoo (Sam) Kim is an associate attorney in the Wooster office, focusing on the firm’s corporate and real estate practices, with a particular interest in tax-related matters. He brings a highly analytical approach to corporate structuring.
Before joining the firm, Sam served as a Judicial Law Clerk in the Tax and Miscellaneous section of the Circuit Court of Cook County. Working alongside Judges, he analyzed complex statutory authority and drafted judicial orders for a variety of civil matters. Sam also gained valuable transactional and municipal experience serving as a Legal Intern for the Chicago Transit Authority. Additionally, he has experience managing statutory and procedural compliance through his work as a Law Clerk for the City of Chicago.
Sam earned his LL.M. in Taxation with Honors, along with a Certificate in Corporate Tax, from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, where he served as a Staff Editor for The Tax Lawyer. During his time at the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law, he worked as a Student Attorney in the UIC Pro Bono Litigation Clinic. Prior to his legal career, Sam served as a Sergeant and squad leader in the Republic of Korea Army.
