Ohio Creates Office of Small Business Relief

In an effort to aid the nearly 950,000 small businesses within the State of Ohio during the current COVID-19 health crisis, Lt. Governor Jon Husted has announced the creation of the Office of Small Business Relief (the “OSBR”).

The OSBR is a part of the Ohio Development Services Agency. The purpose of the OSBR is to serve as the main point of contact in aiding Ohio small businesses to navigate the numerous federal and state relief regulations implemented during the COVID-19 health crisis.

According to Lt. Governor Husted, the OSBR, among other things, will: (1) serve as Ohio’s main agency for administering federal recovery funds awarded to Ohio for small business support and recovery; (2) work with federal, state and local agencies to determine regulations designed to encourage employment and job creation in Ohio; and (3) coordinate efforts of Ohio’s Small Business Development Centers and Minority Business Assistance Centers. A website for the OSBR has been created and can be found at https://businesshelp.ohio.gov/. The website includes numerous resources for economic relief, including a question and answer section covering topics such as the process for applying for the Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program, information regarding the unemployment compensation system, and other general relief topics applicable to Ohio small businesses.

If you are a small business within Ohio, the OSBR is intended to serve as a tool to aid you in navigating through the COVID-19 health crisis. If you have questions regarding any relief efforts applicable to you, the process for applying for such relief efforts, or general business-related questions, the OSBR is intended to be a resource to you. You can contact the OSBR by email at BusinessHelp@Development.Ohio.Gov, or by phone at 1-833-249-6446. If you have any questions regarding the OSBR, the Attorneys as Critchfield, Critchfield, & Johnston, Ltd. are available to take your calls.
